The transformation map
Where Skills Development spend turns into certified learners.
A walk-through of how Dev Science converts a Workplace Skills Plan into a defensible portfolio, an auditable scorecard, and a placement rate you can publish. Five scenes. One pathway.
Scene 01 · Where learners start
The talent exists. The certification doesn’t.
South Africa has no shortage of young people who can learn. What it has is a shortage of QCTO-accredited paths that turn ability into occupational competence an employer can verify. Your Skills Development spend is the bridge.
Scene 02 · The accredited path
Five IT programmes. One pathway through.
The pipeline Dev Science delivers. Each programme is registered, audited, and built to feed the next.
MICT SETA · QCTO-registered

Scene 03 · The workplace component
The workplace is ours. Not a simulation.
QCTO programmes require workplace learning. Most providers scramble to place learners with partners who tolerate them. Dev Science runs its own software house. Learners ship code, sit in stand-ups, and meet real customers — under the supervision of engineers who are paid to mentor them.
Outcome
Every cohort leaves with workplace experience that maps directly to the occupational certificate's exit-level outcomes — signed off by an engineer, not a tick-box.
Scene 04 · Proof and evidence
Auditable by design. Four things your auditor will want.
POE
Portfolios of Evidence
Every learner builds a defensible portfolio — not a certificate with nothing behind it. Auditable by you, by QCTO, by anyone.
POPIA
Learner data under POPIA
Learner records held on systems with documented retention, access control, and subject-access workflows. Your audit gets answers, not headaches.
BBBEE
Scorecard-ready reporting
Spend, completion, and placement reports formatted to drop straight into your B-BBEE verification pack. No reformatting, no "where is this number from".
12H
Section 12H tax allowance
Registered learnership agreements with SETA, the supporting documentation, and the employer and learner allowance calculations, handed over clean.
Scene 05 · The outcome
Certified learners. A scorecard you can defend.
Twelve months on, the cohort exits with a QCTO Occupational Certificate, a portable portfolio, and a placement decision that's documented either way. Your scorecard carries the Skills Development points. Your auditor signs without follow-up questions. Your CSI report has people in it, not line items.
Completion
60% min.
Our published completion floor at the EISA. We report against it.
Placement
70% min.
Placement within 90 days of certification. Into a job or further structured learning.
Scorecard
Audit-ready
