Privacy Policy.
Effective 14 October 2026
1. Who we are
Dev Science (Pty) Ltd ("Dev Science", "we", "us") is a South African company, registration number 2024/771940/07, registered at Dunkeld Park, 6 North Road, Dunkeld West, Sandton, 2196, South Africa. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, products and recruitment process, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact details — name, email address, phone number, company and job title, submitted via contact, enquiry, and quote forms.
- Recruitment information — CV/resume, qualifications, work history, and any other information you submit when applying for a vacancy.
- Client and employee records — information needed to deliver a contracted engagement, including billing details, and, for employees and facilitators, information needed for payroll, contracts, and statutory compliance.
- Technical information — IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies.
- Information you choose to share with us through social media integrations (for example, if you interact with our LinkedIn Page), subject to that platform's own privacy policy.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to enquiries and provide quotes for our services.
- Process job applications and manage the recruitment process.
- Deliver, administer, and invoice contracted engagements.
- Meet payroll, tax, and other statutory obligations for employees and facilitators.
- Operate, secure, and improve our website and systems.
- Send service-related communications, and — only with your consent where required — marketing communications.
4. Legal basis for processing
We only process personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so under POPIA — typically because processing is necessary to perform a contract with you, to comply with a legal obligation (such as tax or labour law), because you have consented, or because it is necessary for our legitimate business interests and does not unreasonably impact your rights.
5. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working correctly, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect site functionality.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell personal information. We may share it with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g. hosting, email delivery, payroll processing), bound by confidentiality and security obligations.
- Regulators, auditors, or authorities where required by law.
- A prospective buyer or successor in the event of a merger, acquisition, or restructuring of our business.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for, including any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements (for example, South African labour and tax law set minimum retention periods for employment records). Unsuccessful job applications are retained for a limited period and then deleted, unless you ask us to keep your details on file for future opportunities.
8. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encryption of sensitive data at rest, access controls, and activity logging — to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and disclosure. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to contact us immediately if you suspect your information has been compromised.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Be told what personal information we hold about you, and why.
- Request access to, or a copy of, your personal information.
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
- Request deletion of personal information we no longer have a lawful basis to keep.
- Object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest, or withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za) if you believe we have not handled your information lawfully.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@devscience.co.za.
10. Children's privacy
Our website and services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian, as required by POPIA.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The effective date below shows when it was last updated — material changes will be reflected here.
12. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your personal information, contact us at hello@devscience.co.za or 010 446 7700, or write to us at Dunkeld Park, 6 North Road, Dunkeld West, Sandton, 2196, South Africa.
